Summary
Anyone who is into Japanese animation knows Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures. His vibrant style blends dynamic poses, surreal colors, and intricate details, inspired by French haute couture, classical sculpture, fashion, and American pop culture. Araki is incredibly well versed in art history and often shamelessly sample from existing pieces and art to create ecstatic works that are truly his own.
Why does his style connect with me?
Araki’s style is just so full of life, playfulness, creativity, and dynamism. His linework, and crisp artstyle reminescent of Western comics with deep black shadows is highly compelling. His whole style just oozes passion, fun, and to me, this is a key component of how I want to live my life, and express myself in my art.
